Every day, a child in care transitions into another home without proper luggage. Help the Florida State Foster/Adoptive Parent Association break the cycle! Support the Duffels for Kids Walk at Jungle Island on May 18. Through the Duffels for Kids program, every child in foster care will receive a free duffel bag to call his or her own, even as they transition back to their biological parents or to another permanent family.
The Microsoft retail store is opening at Dadeland Mall on Saturday, May 18, 2013. The Grand Opening ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Brothers of the Iota Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. are hosting a cocktail fundraiser, A Night of the Arts, during Wynwood's May Art Walk. Guests will be entertained by several hours of music, appetizer and dessert selections, top-shelf open bar, and have opportunities to bid on a number of luxury packages from top hotels, spas, and restaurants in Miami.
Join us at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum to celebrate National Train Day on May 11, 2013!This event will begin at 11:00am and conclude at 4:00pm. Admission will be free for everyone and there will be a lot of exciting attractions including train rides (for an additional fare), food vendors and live music!
South Floridians can help their letter carrier "stamp out hunger" on Saturday, May 11. Leave a bag of non-perishable food items at your mailbox for carrier pick up and delivery to a local food bank.

New World School of the Arts’ College Spring Dance Concert will be an exciting and varied program, featuring the work of two faculty choreographers – a ballet Closet 5716 by ballet faculty member, Gerard Ebitz and a new work by faculty member Peter London Seoul Soul inspired by the dance and music traditions of Korea.

The New World School of the Arts high school theater program closes the season with the poignant The Laramie Project, a play by Moises Kaufman and the Members of the Tectonic Theater Project. Patrice Bailey, Dean of Theater at NWSA highlighted, "This play offers an opportunity for our students to connect to a hate crime committed on a young man and to explore the different points of view of a story. It is my hope that our students will become activists of tolerance."
