Orchestra Miami Presents “Beethoven on the Beach”, Free Outdoor Concerts for the Community
Orchestra Miami is proud to continue its series of Free Outdoor Concerts, with three performances of “Beethoven on the Beach, Part III: Clash of the Titans”. These concerts are presented as a gift to the community, completely free of charge. The concerts are co-sponsored by the City of Sunny Isles Beach, the City of Miami Beach and Atlantic Broadband.
• Saturday, March 8, 2014; 8:00 PM at the North Shore Park Bandshell (also known as the “73rd Street Bandshell”), located at 7250 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Bleacher seating available, but you may also bring your own lawnchair. Concessions available (all proceeds go to support Orchestra Miami) or bring a picnic. Municipal parking available in the lot on the west side of Collins Avenue between 72nd & 73rd streets (free after 6 PM). Children’s activities available prior to the concert.
“Beethoven on the Beach, Part III: Clash of the Titans” features works by Rossini, Mendelssohn and Beethoven, conducted by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director, Elaine Rinaldi. This year’s concert begins with the light-hearted Overture to La Scala di Seta by Gioacchino Rossini, followed by the unforgettable Concerto for Violin in E Minor, Op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn, featuring Orchestra Miami’s Concert Master, Mei Mei Luo, as the soloist. The concert ends with Beethoven’s joyous Symphony N. 2 in D Major, Op. 36.

Bhangra Time! Witness a random act of Indian culture with dancer Ranjana Warier and her troupe as they present a colorful, unique blend of traditional and contemporary Indian dancing, including Bhangra.

Miami Dolphin cheerleaders will be in the Simrad booth to meet and greet fans and sign pictures on Sunday the 16th from 11:30am until 1:30pm at the Miami International Boat Show. Show entrance is required.

A pinnacle in pasta history, Thursday, March 20th is National Ravioli Day and Café Prima Pasta is celebrating with free Fiocchi Rapera bites for every patron.
Upon arrival, guests will receive a complimentary Bellini made with fresh peach puree and authentic Italian champagne followed by an individual Fiocchi Rapera, a homemade pasta purse stuffed with Asian pear and an array of gourmet cheeses tossed in a truffle sauce with crispy prosciutto.
In addition, dinners can enjoy a wide variety of homemade ravioli on the menu including pasta pockets filled with crabmeat and finished with a creamy lobster sauce ($18.95) and spinach and ricotta ravioli in a rich vodka sauce ($16.95).

The Big Read, for Kids!
Kids can join The Big Read, too. At this special StoryArts meet-up, children will learn about Indian culture as they read along with an artist/literacy educator then create artworks inspired by the chosen books, Rangoli: Discovering the Art of Indian Decoration by Anuradha Ananth, Indian Tales: A Barefoot Collection by Shenaaz Nanji and Elephant Dance: A Journey to India by Theresa Heine and Sheila Moxley.
Adults attending with children will receive a free copy of The Namesake.

Dream in Green will host its eighth annual fundraiser, “Setting the Standard” on April 11th at The Standard Spa Hotel in Miami Beach. The affair kicks off with the presentation of the 2014 Green Innovator Awards, recognizing local companies for undertaking green initiatives. The evening’s festivities also include a silent auction, green fashion show, and a cocktail reception featuring lavish hors d’oeuvres and premium drinks.
We expect over 250 attendees from schools, corporations, government agencies, and community-based organizations with an interest in creating a greener Miami. Proceeds from the event will be used for Dream in Green’s educational programs that empower youth and the community to help mitigate the impacts of climate change.
