I have always thought that Miami doesn’t have any good Mexican food. I am not completely mistaken because I have only found one place on my way to the Florida Keys, which is about an hour drive going south. Anyway, I have to tell you about how fantastic this place is!

To start, they serve you homemade tortilla chips with freshly made pico de gallo (onion, cilantro, lemon juice and tomato). It has to be made everyday because that freshness is impossible to keep from one day to another, so expect that it will be a “fresh start”.
Also, make sure to try the favorite of Puerto Vallarta: Shrimp Nachos! They are absolutely to die for. Made with amazing fresh ingredients, including homemade tortillas, guacamole, lettuce, grilled shrimp, re-fried beans and cheese; all these components together make the shrimp nachos an extremely satisfying lunch… get the small size because the portion is big and plenty for two.
Still hungry? Try the shrimp enchiladas! The corn tortillas and spicy sauce will have you devouring the whole dish in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t call the sauce hot but it’s spicy enough to expect for Mexican cuisine. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and the melted cheese make this plate a perfect choice for anybody coming back from a weekend in the Florida Keys who happen to be craving a delicious lunch or early dinner. Ah I almost forgot, the dish also comes with a chile relleno. Mmmmmm… great!! Again, it is not hot but the seasoning is just perfect.
Last but not least, I highly recommend the Michelada (Mexican drink made with beer, lemon juice, salt, cayenne pepper or some Mexican chili powder. It’s different in every Mexican region). Even if you aren’t a beer fan you will love this one, it’s beer with a mixture of hot sauce, salt, lemon juice and spices that enhance every ingredient.
Got a sweet tooth? They keep a secret: the best key lime pie ever found in South Florida… ask for it without whipped cream for a sweet and happy ending! Mmmmm… I’m hungry now.
