The Town of Cutler Bay during its council meeting on Sept. 19, led by Councilmember Sue Loyzelle and the Cutler Bay “Communities for a Lifetime” (CFAL) Committee recognized local businesses that have made a commitment to employing older workers.

National Employ Older Workers Week (observed Sept. 24-28) is a celebration recognizing the importance of the participation of older workers in the labor force. America is witnessing a dramatic growth in the number of citizens 55 or older, a trend that will continue through the 21st Century. As the population ages, older Americans will play an increasingly important role in our economy.

The Town of Cutler Bay acknowledged appreciation to the following businesses and their commitment to employing older workers: Alorica, Community Health of South Florida (CHI), Publix Super Markets and Southland Mall. These businesses together employ more than 279 workers age 55 and older from the South Dade Community.

It has been proven that older workers bring to business attributes such as good judgment, commitment to quality, attendance and punctuality.
