Thousands of South Floridians are making their way into Coconut Grove and being treated to some of the area’s finest art exhibitions. There’s no doubting that Miami’s original art district is alive and well with acclaimed galleries showcasing the works of celebrated artists the first Saturday of each month. Grove Gallery Walks is a night dedicated to art, wine and fun.
“The galleries have shown such enthusiasm in bringing in the very best exhibits and promoting the monthly walks,” said David Collins, executive director of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District (BID). “The number of art admirers who spend an evening in the Grove increases each month.”
In October, the galleries presented the following exhibits: “Excavate” at Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery; “Raíces: THE ROOT OF ALL THINGS” at RODEZart.com Gallery; “This is Colombia/ Asi es Colombia” at Cristina Chacon Studio Gallery; “Pieces by Steve Kaufman” at Max in the Grove; "Ancestor Night" at Blu Moon Studio of Art; “Exhibition Cucuteni” at Dharma Studio Gallery; “Only Reds & Greens” at Grove- House Artist; “Car Culture” at Windisch-Hunt Fine Art and “Culture of Nature” at Nomade Gallery.
Making its debut in October was the Grove’s newest gallery, ArtWay 66, located on the Mayfair Promenade. The gallery’s first exhibition, “Diversities,” presented artists Proman Garcia, Johnny Valdes, Marlenes Gasiba, Kurt Merkel, Arien Lopez, Haydee Pichardo, Rolando Serra, Nelba Gonzales and Luis Breso.
You too can join the fun and follow the decorative banner flags along Coconut Grove’s brick paths at the next Gallery Walk schedule for Saturday, November 6. It begins at 7 p.m. and continues through 10 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be made available at participating galleries, while live music can be found at some locations.
Art inspired events such as these are provided by partnering galleries and the Coconut Grove BID.
