Area 23 Galeria has announced new ownership and renewed focus on established and emerging Latin American talent.
Lead by Miami-based interior designer Alberto Linero, the centrally located Wynwood gallery at 2294 NW Second Ave. occupies one of the busiest street corners in the neighborhood, and has been revamped to make room for additional wall space and artist-specific “niche” areas.
Artists in residence Santiago Betancur, Rafael Espitia, Luis Jimenez and Dario Posada will continue to exhibit contemporary and modern collections throughout the year, while Linero introduces a new exhibition program featuring bi-monthly international guest artists.

“South Florida has established itself in recent years as a primary gateway for Latin American art,” Linero said. “First class fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach increasingly draw innovative works from Latin American galleries, contributing to a rapidly growing global interest in the genre. I hope to bring an entrepreneurial spirit to Area 23 Galeria in connecting with this market and by presenting fresh talent on a consistent basis.”
Linero boasts a successful career in the interior design and property development industry. A native of Santa Marta, Colombia, his affinity for the global commerce has led him to pursue one of the fastest growing art markets in the country. Formerly known as Area 23 Gallery, Linero’s Galeria guest artist program will complement resident artists’ pieces. The works of Bresceda, Romgo, Todd Andrew Babb, Nelly Del Rio, Leonardo Moleiro, Edgar “Nano” Sanchez, and are currently on view.
Area 23 Galeria participates in Wynwood Arts District’s vibrant Art Walks, which take place on the second Saturday of each month from 2 to 9 p.m. The gallery is open Monday to Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
